All righty, here we go. Elk River Sports Radio, how are we doing today? I'm Kory Longly, alongside my little junior co-host, Kantler Longly. How are you doing today, bud?

Summer Review: A Season of Growth

Elk River Sports Radio is having a fantastic off-season this summer. We are getting excited for the new adventure this fall. Obviously, the Squatch is coming up. We're crossing our fingers, hoping to cover Elk River football this fall.

Let’s quickly review your summer, Kantler. We ended last year with some rain and a couple of good tournaments. We finished on a high note. What did you think about the rain for the fall season?

Pretty good. We got third place in our last tournament, beating SDP twice. Yeah, that was some good stuff there. We were getting hot at the right time. So, cool.

Multi-Sport Athlete: Lacrosse Season

You’ve been a multi-sport kid this summer. We moved you into lacrosse season. Why don’t you tell our listeners how that went for you guys?

We were doing pretty good, and then we had state. We won the first game, the second, the third, and the fourth. In the fifth game, we played Moorhead and beat them 12 to 9 in the state championship. Yes, we have a state champion already in the family with lacrosse at the 10U level. It was pretty cool! I know you guys were excited, and the parents were thrilled too. That was a nice highlight of the summer.

Football Evaluations: A New Challenge

Now, you are a multi-sport kid. This week, we’re going through football evaluations for the Zimmerman Thunder. Putting you on the spot, why don’t you run me through what's going on? Are you guys doing drills? And don’t you also have the Zimmerman Thunder high school team with you, right?

Yesterday was the first day of camp. They asked what your position was, and they yelled it out. I’m a quarterback, so I went with all the quarterbacks and did drills with the high school team. They’re running through drills and checking us out to see what we’ve got going on. Awesome!

The Importance of Education

It’s great that the high school coaches are coming out to help. They’re not just there to be there; they want to help the kids improve. It’s important for the kids to see what they can become if they keep working hard, eating well, and getting enough sleep. As Coach Gus said, school is more important than sports. Being better at school is crucial. But when you excel at both, great things happen.

Upcoming Lacrosse State Championship

We’ll finish up the week with football evaluations and then head back into state for summer lacrosse. Are you excited for that? Where are we playing?

We’re playing again at Delano. They have that really awesome field there. What do you think of going back to Delano for state, and what do you think of their facility?

Pretty good. Last year, we did well but lost one game against Crimson. This year, I think we can do better. We’ve been practicing every day to improve our skills. If we play Crimson again, we’ll try to beat them. We’re tied one and one in state for this year and last year.

Facing Tough Competition

This year, the one team we’ve had problems with in lacrosse is Maple Grove. We started strong against them, but sometimes the wheels fall off. However, in the last couple of games, we’ve kept up with them longer. We gave them a scare in the last game. The 10U Elk River lacrosse team has improved a lot. We look forward to this weekend!

After that, we’ll head on vacation for a week. The Longleys are taking a summer vacation. When we return, we’ll be ready for Elk River football.

Call for Sponsors

I want to give a shout-out to anyone listening. We are looking for sponsors for Elk River Sports Radio. Elk River Sports Radio is loud, live, and local. We cover Elk River Boys High School Hockey, Elk River Girls High School Hockey, and Boys Lacrosse. We’re also working on covering football.

If anyone local wants to help keep us going through sponsorship opportunities, please contact me at 612-501-6125 or check us out online at elkriversportsradio.com.

YouTube Channels and Community Involvement

I appreciate my little co-host. Oh, YouTube! Yes! If you’re listening, please check out my YouTube channel, which is my name spelled out: Kory with a K, K-O-R-Y, Longley, L-O-N-G. Please subscribe and like all the videos. I’m planning to interview some football players soon.

Kantler, why don’t you share your and Abe’s YouTube channel?

It’s a knee hockey channel where we cover all the high school teams in Minnesota and their state tournament brackets.

Community Engagement: Volunteers Needed

The Squatch is also looking for billets and volunteers. I spoke with Coach Pojar a couple of weeks ago. We need volunteers to help beef up security. If you come to the game, you can wear a security jacket and watch the game for two hours. It’s a job, but it’s more than that. Everything with the Squatch is a family. It starts with Chicken Sarah Pojar and goes all the way down to the last person who helps.

Reflecting on the Season

Let’s digress back to Kantler and Abe. Did you mention the name of your channel? What do people look up on YouTube to find it?

It’s the NKL, Knee Hockey League.

Check out Corey Longley first because my channel needs a little help. Those two have taken theirs to the next level.

State Finals Recap

So, who’s in the state finals?

  • Moorhead versus Hill Murray. Hill Murray won.

  • Warroad versus St. Claude Cathedral. Warroad won.

  • Hermantown versus Montemedi. Hermantown won.

  • East Grand Forks versus Roseau. Roseau won.

  • Elk River versus Edina. Edina won.

  • Maple Grove versus Rogers. Maple Grove won.

  • Stillwater versus Orono. Stillwater won.

  • Lakeville versus St. Michael. Lakeville won.

Check out their YouTube channel! They do knee hockey and play against each other. It’s fun stuff to watch when you have some free time.

Excitement for Fall Sports

We’re in the dog days of summer, but we’re creeping toward fall. We’re gearing up for Squatch hockey and Elk River Sports Radio. We’re excited for Elk River football this year!

Everyone who knows someone without our Live 365 app on their phones needs to start downloading it. We want to build interest in football and all our other interviews.

Conclusion

Kantler, thank you for doing this. You did an awesome job! You’ll have a great resume one day when you go to college.

Thanks to Miss Kim, Mrs. Kim Longley, for setting us up today in the Longley Lounge. Hi to Kim Lee, who didn’t want to appear today on Elk River Sports Radio, but the nine-year-old stepped up.

If you had to name one person for the Minnesota Squatch, what would you say to someone who wears a cape?

The Batty Belt! The top three players are:

  1. Batty 1: Sinclair

  2. Batty 2: Cannon Boniface

  3. Batty 3: Jay Ellingson

Anything to say to Mr. Superman, Jay Ellingson? He doesn’t like being second in any category. So, Mr. Ellingson, get ready for the upcoming season. Get in shape and prepare for the Squatch season!

We’re looking forward to the boys’ and girls’ hockey seasons. This Friday, we have the Elk River Golf Tournament. I’ll be there! If you’re coming, please say hi and talk a little smack.

We’ll also do a live broadcast for Rinks and Links when you go to the golf course for your tournament.

All righty, well, Kantler Milton Thomas Longley, thank you for joining me. I’m Corey Longley, and we are Elk River Sports Radio. We are out of here. Thank you!
